Dishwasher Required: Exposed
In 2009 the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) updated some rules that help make sure consumers know when a there is a “material connection” between a product or service and a blogger, celebrity, etc.
For bloggers this means that any time a blogger writes a post about, tweets about, shouts from the mountaintops about a product or service they received for free and/or for which they received compensation, they have to tell you – the reader. It’s up to you to decide whether their squeals of delight are genuine. If someone sends me a year’s supply of CareFree Thong Panty Liners* (The 98-count please. I, um, go through a lot of them.) I would genuinely squeal with delight. No one has sent me any, but if they do you will be the first to know!
Some of the links on this site are affiliate links. That means that if you click on them and then buy something, I get a wee little payment. For example, If you click an affiliate link on my blog that is connected to Amazon and you buy a book* (or gadget* or submarine* or whatever) that costs $10, I’ll get 40-60 cents. I’m gonna be rich, yo!!!
Not all of my links are affiliate links. When they are I’ll denote them with an asterisk ( * ).
Wait. That looks vaguely like an obscene emoji or something…
Moving on then!
Although I have affiliate links on this blog, I am not an “affiliate blog” (although I would very much like to be an Amazon Gazillionaire). What I mean by that is that the purpose of my site is not to fill up every page with a zillion random links. My primary focus is to give you great content and hopefully make you smile. Any affiliate link you find on this site is here because:
- I own/use it or
- wish I owned it or
- it has been recommended by someone I trust or
- is something I genuinely believe would be of value to my readers.
Right now I’m only an affiliate with Amazon, and here is my official disclosure:
Jenny Kyles (Dishwasher Required) is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
There you have it! I feel all fresh and clean now!
