It’s the Home Office Desk Declutter Challenge – And I need YOUR help!
Ahhhh, a new year.
A clean slate.
A fresh start.
My desk needs it more than you can imagine.
So the time has come, my friends. I’m hanging my shame out here for all to see because my work area needs a fresh start. Some parts of my space and life are very organized.
But this?
This is my secret shame. Sadly, it’s not all that secret because it’s in the corner of my dining room in my open plan house.
We’re moving my work space upstairs to the room that is being transitioned into a dual office/crafting area. I’ll be documenting that, but before I can begin I have to take care of the Horror show that is my desk. I’m honestly not even sure where to begin.
What the hell is all over that desk Jenny?
That’s a good question. And the answer is that I don’t really know. The plant pot used to hold…. an aloe plant — I think.
The top of the hutch used to be really organized. I have a folder for everything and had everything in a folder! Oh my, the top of the desk. I really, truly don’t know what all is on there. I see a couple of baskets that were intended to handle slight overflows, some folders, a wall hanging, and lots of miscellaneous stuff. The pull-out portion of the desk appears to have some books and stationary. The chair. Hmmm. I see a bag full of receipts, a paper cutter, and perhaps some preschool artwork is lurking at the bottom.
So what is your revolutionary plan for this home office desk declutter project?
That’s where I need your help, dear readers! Every time I start working on it I get completely overwhelmed. Almost everything piled up there is something I need or want to keep. I just can’t figure out how to manage all of it!
Help!
I’m going to force let y’all join me as I move through this process and I want your input! Please let me know in the comments where you think I should start, how I can effectively sort through the paperwork and how to handle the “miscellaneous” items that I need to have close by but that I don’t want just spread on the kitchen counter.
